How To Write and Publish a Wikipedia Page.
Step 1. First things first, check the availability of the Wikipedia page you intend to publish.
It should be noted that before you can create a Wikipedia page about yourself or your company (or publish any info on Wikipedia), first! you will need to check whether a Wikipedia page for yourself or company already exist on the Wikipedia website, If somebody has already created a Wikipedia page about you or your company, you won,t be allowed to create a similar page. Instead you will be allowed to edit the existing Wikipedia page about your company or yourself. Wikipedia is trying to aviod duplicate contents thats why they don,t approve the publication of similar contents.
To check the availability of your company,s Wikipedia or any information you intend to publish on Wikipedia, simply type the name of your company or your name into the Wikipedia search bar and click on the search button.
From the screenshot above, i have just typed the keyword “Brenda Biya” in to the Wikipedia search bar. I wish to check whether a Wikipedia page with the title (Brenda Biya) already exist. If a Wikipedia page about Brenda Biya already exist, i won,t be allowed to create a Wikipedia page for Brenda Biya. Instead i will be only be allowed to edit the existing Wikipedia page about Brenda Biya.
From the screenshot above, you can see that there,s no Wikipedia page for Brenda Biya. So i,m free to create the page. But if there was a Wikipedia page titled “Brenda Biya” i will only be allowed to edit the information on the Wikipedia page.
If the page intend to create doesn,t exist, just click on the link shown in the screenshot below, to create the Wikipedia Page.
After clicking on that link, you will arrive at the Wikipedia Editor page. Its at the Wikipedia Editor page that you will create a Wikipedia Page for the uncovered topic.
How to Write an Article on Wikipedia
Wikipedia has provided a user friendly editor that makes it possible for anybody to easily write an article on Wikipedia . To write an article you just need to type your information in to the Wikipedia Editor.
The Wikipedia editor has two interfaces which include the Source editor and the Visual Editor. The source editor is the default editor but its very hard to create a Wikipedia page using the Source editor (unless you are an advance wikipedia writers or the techies). So i will advice you to switch from the default source editor mode to the visual mode before you start writing. To switch from the Source editting mode to the Visual mode, just click on the drop down arrow at the right hand corner of the Wikipedia Editor and select the Visual Editting mode.
